On the record: Gencom said on 30 October 2026 that it bought the InterContinental Miami, at 100 Chopin Plaza, with Miami-based White Bridge Capital, and Strategic Hotels & Resorts was the seller (Miami Herald, 30 October 2026). The buyers did not disclose the price, the Herald reported. A Bloomberg headline the same day put it at about $300 million.

What sold

The hotel has 652 rooms on 34 stories, where Biscayne Bay meets the Miami River at the south end of Bayfront Park, and it was built in 1982 (Miami Herald, 30 October 2026). Connect CRE reported on 31 October 2026 that it has 35 meeting rooms and more than 90,000 square feet of event space.

What the buyer says happens next

Gencom’s chief investment officer, Alessandro Colantonio, told the Herald on 30 October 2026 that there are no plans for major changes: the room count stays, it stays a hotel, and management stays the same. He said to expect targeted renovation, likely in the public spaces. “It’s great real estate,” he told the paper.

Why I looked

I sell Miami condos, so the first thing I checked was whether this adds homes downtown. Asked about adding private condos or residences, Colantonio said no (Miami Herald, 30 October 2026). So for now this is a hotel story, not a new condo story.

It’s also worth seeing who is buying. The Herald reported on 30 October 2026 that Gencom is in a joint venture with Hyatt on the Miami Riverbridge, a project of more than $1.5 billion that will redevelop the nearby Hyatt Regency Miami and James L. Knight Center. Gencom also acquired the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove in December 2025, per the same report.

Not published as of 1 November 2026, in the sources I could read: a price from either party, and the financing.
