By Day:

Key Biscayne is an island, which means you’ll have your pick of some of the most scenic beach properties around Miami. And wherever you are, it’s only a short walk or bike ride to the beach. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park sits at the southern tip of the island, where you can see its iconic lighthouse, or you can play 18 holes at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne to the north. There are plenty of shops, banks and restaurants, and a portion of the island is the village of Key Biscayne. If you’re commuting into Miami, you’ll see the best view of the city’s skyline on your way to work every day via the Rickenbacker Causeway.

By Night:

With so many hotels in the area, Key Biscayne knows how to cater to upscale tourists. If you’re looking for a slice of the action on the nightside, you’ll do best to visit the places where they go. That means sipping cocktails at the Ritz-Carlton’s Rumbar or visiting one of another handful of hotel lounges. Dine at one of the many beachfront restaurants for some of the best seafood, Tuscan and Mediterranean Spanish meals you’ve ever tried.

Where To Live:

Located just south of Miami Beach and east of Miami, this island town has the picture-perfect South Florida lifestyle waiting for you. But Key Biscayne is small. With an area of just 1.4 square miles, all 12,000 people who call this place home are packed into high rises along the water. With several large hotels competing for space, the density level of the city has been a key dispute among residents and city officials. Something to consider if you’re claustrophobic.

You May Also Like:

Miami has plenty of islands if that’s what you’re after. Fisher Island, Star Island (and its neighbors) and the Venetian Islands are all beautiful, private options. (Only Fisher Island has beaches and a golf course, though it’s not accessible by land.
