By Day:

If you like to read, you could easily while away the afternoon at Books & Books where hundreds of texts line the shelves, and well-known writers are known to stop by for regular appearances. The city’s free trolley system, which started in 2003, runs down Ponce de Leon Boulevard for a quaint way to take in the sites and get around town. Use it to visit the historic Venetian Pool built in 1924, or swing by Douglas Entrance, a famed archway. You should also check out Miami Biltmore hotel built in 1926. It’s a good example of old Florida architecture. And there are tons of restaurant options, from Manhattan-style brunch spots to Latin coffee counters and everything in between.

By Night:

With more than 140 restaurants and gourmet shops, you won’t be bored here in Coral Gables. Spend a lot or a little at places ranging from the upscale MesaMar Seafood Table restaurant to something less expensive but equally as loved like Frattelino, an Italian join. On the first Friday of each month, the city holds Coral Gables Gallery night for free. Admittedly though, you may have to skip town like the college kids do here to get more of a nightlife scene. Follow a University of Miami student to the Grove to party. Or if you’d prefer a night of cocktails and jazz, check out The Globe.

Where To Live:

Coral Gables is one of the most manicured parts of Miami. You’ll notice a stark difference crossing over from the city to this little area from one street to the next. That’s because this was the first planned community in the area. The city’s architecture is described as Mediterranean Revival style. You’ll get what you pay for here.

You May Also Like:

Key Biscayne and the South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach have comparable luxury properties and quiet neighborhood feel. The Gables is quite unique, though.
